Travel Themed Wedding Ideas

I’m sure I’ve already mentioned once or twice before, that the hubby and I started our relationship as a long distance. Travel therefore played a huge part in the first year and a half of our relationship and it is because of this, that I have a soft spot for travel themed weddings. You might even recall that the hubby and I actually sent each other love notes by way of a paper airplanes during our engagement session with Tealily Photography! Either way, there’s just something about travel themes that scream fun. I don’t know if it’s the idea of jet setting far far away to a place unknown or if it’s because I love hearing about other people’s travels or whether it’s because I’m just in dire need of a holiday, either way, the travel bug inside me gets so excited about weddings that incorporate travel elements. Oh and I totally have a thing for maps – whether vintage, hand drawn or cartoon-like, they’re just so pretty!

Seeing as I’m traveling the next few weeks, it only seemed fitting that I share some of my favourite ways on how to incorporate travel into your wedding. See what you think!

Line your invitation envelopes with maps, send out paper airplane invitations or boarding pass invitations or even hand out passports – they’re all so much fun!

Use paper or model airplane props to decorate your dessert table or maybe a cute mail wedding cake…

Use maps and globes to pin up your escort cards, write your guests names on airplanes or write them on miniature postcards. I just adore those little airplane escort cards!

Your guests will love their favours wrapped using pretty maps or these luggage tag escort cards that double as wedding favours. Miniature suitcases would make for cute containers for your wedding favours or consider packaging your gifts up like a little parcel ready for sending!

Pair colourful globes with vibrant florals as your centrepieces and your reception tables will not only look fun but also fabulous!
