Rustic Wedding Ideas

Being in Sydney definitely has its perks when it comes to the endless choices of cafes. Perfect for the coffee addict, such as myself. This trip round I’ve noticed that Alexandria has become the new foodie hotspot with many old warehouses being converted into cafes and restaurants and the most recent place being The Grounds on the corner of Bourke and Huntley Street. Determined to make the most of my trip and check out these new establishments, I met with the lovely and super talented Milena (aka Len) of I Love Wednesdays for coffee there yesterday and was inspired.

The Grounds is a beautiful place. Imagine a barn-like space with rustic wooden finishes, concrete floors and incandescent lighting, decorated with florals in aluminium cans, neon signage and the like. This place screams ‘rustic’ which got me thinking about rustic wedding ideas – perfect for those who, like me, love that old, vintage, homespun kind of look. When I think rustic wedding, my mind races to mason jars, twine, yarn, wooden panels, lace, mismatched centrepieces, lanterns, twinkle lights, succulents, cheese platters, fruits and a palette of greens, creams, browns, oranges, peaches – you get the idea. I know it’s rather difficult to find a ‘barn’ in the middle of any city but there’s no reason why you can’t bring the rustic look to your wedding by incorporating some of these ideas. You just need to get creative.
