I love dessert tables – especially at weddings. Not only do they make particularly good eye candy, it’s deliciously fun for all guests. And as someone who loves to bake and put together simple dessert tables when given the chance, I’m pretty excited about the lovely stylist, Mandy Forlenza Sticos joining me today to share her expertise on how to style a sweet dessert table. Now you’ll be able to whip one up yourself for the big day!
As an event designer and stylist, one of my favorite tables to design is the dessert table! Here are five easy to execute tips when styling sweet dessert tables.
Simple is chic. When designing a table with many items to display, one or two colors work best. Use balloons sparingly in one color and jars of candy look best when monotone. Too many colors will clutter up a table so keep it simple and chic!
Build it up. Display small treats in a grand tower on a cake platter to create an interesting focal point. Simple feel good treats work best like donuts or these whoopee pies by Cookie Fairy Sweets. Don’t forget to add a few fresh blooms!
Dish it out. Sometimes the best décor for sweets is not the display at all; it can simply be what it’s served on. Mixed patterned Vintage china is my favorite option as it brings a unique flair to everyone’s experience and creates a source of conversation among guests.
Single Serving. A casual yet fun way to display treats, is in take-away single serving bags. Cotton candy, chocholate covered nuts or flavored popcorn are crowd pleasers and are easy on clean up in disposable bags!
Get Naked. A naked cake, that is! These little sans-icing beauties display beautifully and offer just enough of a sugar rush. Topped with blooms and displayed on a grand crystal stand, the naked cake will be the talk of the party!
