S&NDY’s Favourite Things Sydney Wedding by Infinity Photography

Today I have a very special wedding to share with you all – my Sydney wedding.

Andy and I knew from the onset that we wanted a fun and personalised affair for our big day. We both love the outdoors and being by the water so we felt the Royal Botanic Gardens and the Opera Point Marquee provided not only a beautiful setting but a romantic and memorable one.

Our wedding was a labour of love in that I really did love almost every little moment of planning, organising and hand crafting it together. We tried to include as many personalised details as possible and included various DIY elements to not only save money but to make our wedding unique to us. Our wedding was inspired by our favourite things as individuals and as a couple and was filled to the brim with everything that we love – fun vibrant colours, scrabble fun, magnetic collectibles, delicious foods and cakes, KFC and many more.

I hope the awe inspiring photography by Infinity Photography will make you fall in love over and over again as it made me when I first saw the photographs.

I absolutely adored our customised ring bearer bowl and my something new and blue ‘Always and Forever’ bouquet tile from Palomas Nest on Etsy, which also made fabulous keepsakes.

During our wedding planning year, we got obsessed with the iPhone game ‘Words with Friends’ so we got scrabble cufflinks from Cufflinks on Etsy as gifts for our groomsmen.

My favourite item from our wedding was most definitely my wedding gown from Mark Holt Bridal. There was just something so romantic about the layers of chantilly lace that I knew it was the one the moment I put it on. My mom even cried when I first tried it on! The swoon worthy peaches, corals and creamy bridesmaid bouquets were also a favourite of mine.

My veil was my mom’s and was my something borrowed and old. I hope to give it to my daughter some day!

Shoe clips are great way to add some simple gorgeousness to your wedding shoes. Mine were from bpoetic on Etsy.

The fabulously rare Winston Rolls Royce was just stunning. LOVE.

Rather than the traditional flower arch, why not a pretty flower petal aisle which can be laid out in so many different patterns – in our case, ‘S’ for S&NDY.

DIY program fans come in handy under the hot scorching sun!

No wedding of ours would be the same without a silly shot!

This is my favourite shot. The luscious greens are breath-stoppingly beautiful.

We love collecting magnets from our travels so we customised button magnets via Button Machine on Etsy with meaningful images as our boutonnieres. We filled DIY hand sewn gift bags with our magnets and tied cute little hand stamped thank you tags to each. Word of warning for brides – hand sewing 250 bags is never a good idea! However, using customised stamps for your thank yous is a simple yet cost saving way of beautifying gifts to your guests.

We mixed our magnets with some scrabble magnets to display our engagement photos by Tealily Photography and wedding invitation at the reception entrance.

I bought rolls of ribbons of varying peachy tones and used them in my various DIY projects as well as for decorating the reception venue. Ribbons are a gorgeous yet simple way of incorporating some colour and texture to your wedding without having to spend too much.

Another DIY element was our favourite things table numbers. We used the favourite things icons from our wedding invitations as table numbers and had guests sitting at the KFC (my husband’s second love) table!

The Best Matron (yes, not Best Man) delivering her heart warming speech.

We shared our first dance to “Can’t take my eyes off you” by Lauren Hill which was the song playing in the background when Andy proposed. Our choreographed dance began with Andy doing a solo hip hop routine and he was amazing!

Sparklers are a fun and dazzling thing to incorporate into your wedding. We were told that our super long sparklers from The Wedding Sparkler Company took quite some time to extinguish though!

My one piece of advice to brides is to relax and just enjoy the day. Don’t sweat the small stuff and let them put a downer on your special day because the day just goes by so fast that I wouldn’t want you to miss a thing!
