A Summerlees Cottage Wedding by Sutoritera

Oh how I love a wedding in the Southern Highlands! It never fails to provide the perfect backdrop to a celebration of two people in love. I’m so in love with the many touches injected into this stunning wedding, all of which perfectly embody the effortless elegance that I adore about Australian countryside weddings. It’s sweet yet stylishly elegant and most importantly intimate, making for one amazing celebration. Sutoritera captured this day oh-so beautifully so don’t miss a frame!

Daniel of Sutoritera shares, “Brides and wedding photographers share one thing in common – we ADORE pretty details and Summerlees Cottage is never short of a-m-a-z-i-n-g vintage details – left, right and centre. It is a photographer’s dream. Juxtaposed against a classic antique countryside setting are bright and vibrant Vietnamese ao dais.”

“Rice paper rolls, fried quail Maryland, chicken and asparagus soup, tamarind beef salad, roast pork with  fried bun, salt and pepper prawn, fried fish fillet in ginger and shallot sauce, crispy chicken Maryland, and fried rice …” – Welcome to Karen & Benjamin’s aptly named ‘Viet Banquet’. Served in the rustic ballroom at Summerlees, it is not the type of menu you would expect in Sydney’s Southern Highlands.

In front of an old barn, Ben (with the aid of his groomsmen) must prove his love for his wife-to-be, the lovely Karen. Leg hairs are ripped from their legs, push-ups are done, and an impromptu rap from the groom himself, signals that he is worthy.”

“Fathers share port before being served tea by Karen & Ben. The cultural traditions of Karen’s heritage are preserved. Honour, pride, joy and face are important to the marrying couple. I spy Karen and Ben sharing a private giggle. They’re happy.

They are wedded beneath a row of trees with their closest friends and family surrounding them. Ben smiles nervously with anticipation as his bride walks down the aisle with her father around her arm. Karen wears a backless lace coutured number, hand made by her mother. It is a beautiful moment.

“They dance. They laugh. A piñata is sacrificed, spilling delicious candy. The sound of cheers echoes into the night.”
