Wanaka, New Zealand has the kind of landscape that needs very little decoration. With a simple infusion of rustic detail, sweet lavender florals plus a gorgeous pair of high school sweethearts, the natural beauty of the snowy Wanaka surroundings were enhanced in this wedding. I love the laid back nature of this destination wedding in New Zealand, the bride’s gorgeous vintage gown and those midnight snack packs are such a great idea! Bride Ali shares, “We woke to snow on the morning of our wedding (in October). It snowed lightly on and off all day. Our Favourite moment would have to have been when the clouds cleared and the sun came out during the ceremony and then as we walked down the aisle at the end of the ceremony it started to snow lightly again. It was like 4 seasons in one day and was very special.”
“Clint proposed after 8 years together while we were on holidays in Queenstown, New Zealand. He booked our own private hot spring surrounded by snow and had it lit with candles at night. He put the ring in the bottom of my champagne glass.”
“I found my wedding dress whilst shopping with my mum in Sydney. The shop assistant picked it out for me to try as she thought it would suit my figure. The lace was also very vintage.”
“We hired out the whole hotel so all our guests stayed the night. this meant that they could really kick up their heels and only have to walk 10 meters to bed when the night finished.”
“As the wedding was overseas we couldn’t take too many heavy decorations so we got a few unique things from Etsy. This included a Polaroid camera for guests to take photos and write a message, a finger print tree, small lightweight blackboards to write on and bunting.”
“We planned everything via email. We paid all deposits and confirmed everything before we flew over so all that was left to do was pay a few remaining amounts when we got there. Our advice to people getting married overseas is thoroughly check all requirements for getting married in another country. Just so you don’t have any unexpected stresses when you get there.”
