A Peachy Sydney Wedding by Lucy Leonardi Photography

It’s no secret that we love a peach wedding here at Simply Peachy, so when this peachy wedding beautifully captured by Lucy Leonardi Photography popped up in our inbox, I jumped at the chance to share it with you. Filled with pretty peach details ranging from the Bride’s custom made pale peach gown to the peach, blush and orange tones of the florals, this heartfelt wedding is definitely the definition of peachy! Love love love! Soak up all the peachiness here and have a peachy day all!

Bride Debbie shares, “Johnny and I met in Europe on a Contiki tour. We were both travelling with close friends and we all got along really well. After the tour had ended, we were both in Spain and Greece at the same time so we had our first date in Santorini!”

“Johnny isn’t very good at keeping surprises – he gets too excited! We went away for a weekend and I had an inkling he was going to propose, but the exact moment he chose caught me completely off-guard. It was in the morning and I was half asleep and he was trying to get me out of bed. We were laughing about something when he told me to close my eyes. I heard him rummaging around in the cupboard, then he placed the box holding my ring on my lap.”

“I knew I wanted my gown to be made to measure – something that I could stamp with my own style. I approached the wedding gown designer who had made my sister’s dress, but she had taken on a new venture so she referred me to Sherry Tamin from Sherry Bridal Couture. I emailed Sherry to enquire and I knew from her very first response that she was going to be a dream to work with.”

“My bouquet had Blush, peach and ivory toned roses, sprigs of rosemary, olive branch and pink pepper berries.”

“I loved the idea of my bridesmaids having one really large dahlia surrounded by smaller florals and foliage. My florists were able to get orange/peach toned ones which were really striking against their blue-grey dresses.”

“I was inspired by many images found through blogs and magazines –some wedding related and some not. I had been introduced to the world of Pinterest so began compiling it all onto one board. I found I was constantly drawn to images with soft colours like blush, pink and peach. I also loved the thought of using rosemary and olive branch in our florals to add texure and fragrance, not to mention a nod to our Italian heritage! My obsession for watercolour artworks also played a role in our stationery design. Without intention, it all seemed to mould into one story.”

“My favourite detail of the day was the scent of the rosemary in my bouquet.”

“The colour peachy featured widely through our florals and stationery. Also by pure coincidence, our band was called Peachy!”

“The tables at the reception had a mixture of tall arrangements of olive branches, small vases of rosemary and assorted arrangements of dahlias and roses.”

“We packaged and labelled the wedding favours over two nights with the assistance of my Mum, my bridesmaids, and an aunty. It was a lot of fun and a great excuse for a ladies night!”

“My advice for couples planning their wedding is to remember that all your closest family and friends want to be of use. In the last week when everything gets a bit crazy, don’t be too proud to ask for a little help, delegate as much as possible! Also, make sure you take a moment to yourself on the day to breathe and absorb it all – it’s one of the only days that will ever be a celebration of the both of you. I remember saying to Johnny at the end of the night “I don’t think I have ever laughed so much”. It really was an incredibly happy day.”
